An innocent man has found himself in a mess and serious pain after he tried to help a lady only for him to be robbed and attacked by armed robbers who are members of her gang. The lady is on the run.
The incident occured at the Canelands intersection in Verulam, South Africa.
Members of Reaction Unit were called out to Old Main Road near the Canelands Library after members of the public found a semi conscious man lying on the roadside bleeding from an injury to his head.
Upon arrival the victim explained while stationary at the intersection he offered a lift to a female who was standing on the roadside. Shortly after she got into his Toyota Corolla the drivers side window was smashed in and the driver was assaulted by two suspects. One suspect was allegedly armed with a firearm.
The male victim was then forced into the boot of his vehicle and driven to an isolated spot in a sugar cane plantation in the vicinity of the Canelands Library. The suspects then forced him out of the boot and robbed him of his valuables before fleeing. The injured man walked to an informal settlement where he was assisted by residents.
The driver was transported to hospital for medical attention. The woman’s identity is unknown at this stage and it cannot be confirmed if she was an accessory to the hijacking.
